Welcome Senor from a fellow noob.
almostathiest is right. I've learned so much from people that didn't go to church or even think about Jah. They're just normal, down-to-earth folks that will treat you as well as you treat them.
I wish you well in stopping the madness; hopefully we'll be able to help.

How Will You Die at Armageddon?
by Nosferatu in.
before i found this website, i accepted the fact that i was going to be destroyed at armageddon.
but now that i know it's a big lie, i don't worry about that.. but just for fun, if you could choose your armageddonly death, how would you like to go?

Whilst in a mosh pit at a Revolting Cocks show. I saw them Thursday night with Ministry... What a great freakin' time I had. I know I’m old and all but man it was awesome. Hadn't seen them since '88. I'd like that... Or can I be the pale horse of the Apocalypse?
By the way, get natural people, moo sha rooms is the way to go.
Most importantly, if the Big A did happen, I think that I’d have a lot of apologizing to do for laughing and calling the JWs a pack of raving lunatics all these years.
By the way, where is the mention of Dinosaurs in the bible? They were here before man. Did A & E come but fade away and come back? I never see a huge T-Rex in the pictures of the garden of eden... Only the lamb and the lion. -

Were YOU Depressed When You Were A Witness?
by minimus ini've seen soooo many witnesses taking meds or alcohol because of unhappiness and depression.
i know of one woman who regularly gos to her shrink and is the most depressed person that i know of.
personally, i believe it's because a jw can never do enough to satisfy god or the elders....what do you think?

I just felt dirty all the time; not physically dirty of course, just muddy and confused. The crap I was being asked/told to believe didn't add up. I'm analytical and not much into the Shut Your Pie Hole and Do What You're Told mentality.
I always felt like if everything was going well that god would somehow throw a wrench into to my scene to screw it up so that I would appreciate the New System more. I now feel that if something good happens it's because of what I did... vice versa stands true as well. If I want something but don't work hard enough to get it then I won't. My Catholic wife believes there is a grand plan and that everything happens for a reason. Whatever, she puts up with my crap so I'm happy. -

I haven't been in the service for 24 years.
I was an outside sales guy until last year and I thought about being in the service every single time I'd go to a new building to harass, sorry…, cold-call for new customers. I learned to have fun with it. What brought me solace and immediately livened my spirit was to know that I wasn't with an Elder whom I thought was a total Tool. -

troubled mind,
I visited my aunt/uncle/cousins, all life-long JWs, a couple of months ago. I wasn't there during any Hall time so I dodged that proverbial bullet, but it was just after Memorial. They spent a considerable amount of time telling me how great the memorial was, more importantly they went on ad nauseum about all the non-JWs that came with their respective JW spouses/family members and how awesome it would be if only a couple of those actually got baptized and served the lord and savior Jesus Christ.
It was as if my family had won a lotto ticket they were so giddy... which for them the analogy is apropos. They felt that the non-JWs had received a ticket, golden no less, no not to Willy Wonka’s, but to everlasting life, heaven-on-earth, et cetera. Remember, if you don’t get right, you’re gonna get left.
My long-winded point is that they, I feel, will likely be crushed if you don’t attend. It’s likely they’ve told all their bro/sis that you’re coming. They live for getting people to the Hall, that is their purpose, their Qwan if you will. For a bonus, if you’re cordial and participate in the singing, discussion, give answers they will look great in front of their homies, which will make it easier for you… and you get to avoid the confrontation that will linger for years, unless the Big A comes, then you’re cool, or hot depending on your view of hades, I suppose.
I hope that helps.
Respectfully, SR
p.s. wear something sassy... that'll really send 'em over the edge. -

It is all how you look at it isn't it
by troubled mind inperspective.......example: my in laws look at the "truth" as a wonderful thing that changed their lives.
mother in law was married at 14 to an abusive drinker she was a child having children .
she studied and was abused by him more because of his possesiveness.

Troubled Mind,
Are you my sibling? This sounds oddly familiar except for the booze, my Y-donor was certifiably insane. Horrible bi-polar wacko. Wouldn’t take his medicine for the 6 Down months so that he could really fly in the Up months.
I love how the Elders counseled my mom that divorce was not an option… since, I mean, the new system would be here any day and we would all be well.
What a load of horse hockey.
I don’t know if it helps or not but I look back and think that I learned a lot about the way to NOT do things. I am raising my kids to think critically, question everything; believe only ½ of what they see and nothing of what they hear until they can prove it for themselves; also, follow the money trail. If someone is making money then they are likely driving the story or plan. Oh yeah, and I’m not a lazy, manipulative bum in a sea of apocalyptic nut-jobs, which is quite nice. See I did learn something. -

My District Convention Last Weekend
by rassillon inwell, iast weekend was my dc.

Hey rassillon,
With all due respect, why go in the first place?
I'm a total newbie and my shadow hasn't darkened a KH door since I was 13, save a memorial or two, but if it "sucks ass" as I'm sure it did, why even put up with any of it. I'm sure you and your wife could find much more productive things to do in lovely Katy. They do have that sweet Bass Pro Shop there, or go south to the beach (watch out for dead bodies though-I've seen two floaters over the years).
I pose this not as a rhetorical question... I'm interested to hear from anyone who is still an active J-Dub. If you are loath to go for even a weekend due to your knowledge beforehand that it's going to suck it, why do it at all?
Respectfully, SR -

Here's a graph that looks pretty good @ first glance, depending on your view of the Rohos. I can't vouch for the data but Wikipedia is usually pretty believable. If you see anything that refutes the data please post it.

Newbie in the house! I'm fired up to find you guys. I haven't thought of this poop for many years. I really feel giddy inside knowing that for the past 24 years I haven't felt guilty, even once, about drinking too much and smoking. Not sure why those were such big sins for me as a kid but I remember them being real doozies. My cousin's wife smoked and slept with some clown, but it seemed that they focused on the smoking more... kooks. One question: is a District Convention the same as an Assembly? I was gonna go to one just to experience the insanity. I don't really want to do anything; simply want to smile when I leave knowing that my kids won't have to endure the crap that I did. Back to the point-at-hand: Justice, I like your most recent post (17-Jul-06 14:27). Tape 'em up! I remember seeing people chanting and disparaging the Truth once @ an Assembly in Dallas. I remember actually realizing that there was a different story out there. I went to find it. I was right. Hopefully some kid will see your info and wake up, sooner rather than later. Keep on rockin' in the free world. p.s. my Worldy [sic] step-dad calls the JDubs, "RoHos." Thought you might find interesting if not just plain funny.
